About Dr. Heber Dunaway
Dr. Dunaway is board certified in obstetrics & gynecology and has been a reproductive endocrinologist for 37 years.
As the director and founder of Reproductive Services for Lakeside Hospital, Dr. Dunaway was an innovator in the reproductive endocrinology field early in his career. He initially went to medical school to be an orthopedic surgeon. But after his first baby delivery during medical training, he fell in love with OB-GYN.
Dr. Dunaway treats all aspects of infertility, including diminished ovarian reserve, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). He specializes in treatment option ranging from ovulation induction and intrauterine insemination (IUI), to in vitro fertilization (IVF) with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
Dr. Dunaway has special interests in robotic surgery for endometriosis, uterine fibroids, pelvic adhesions and tubal disease, as well as corrective surgery for uterine anomalies. He has a keen interest in the refinement of the surgical treatment of endometriosis by robotics as well as the treatment of uterine fibroids.
Approach to treatment
Dr. Dunaway takes an individualized, aggressive treatment approach that aligns with the patient’s wishes.
“It’s important to me to treat patients as I would my wife or daughter.”
His love of the practice of reproductive medicine is evident, and he is deeply moved by those patients who fail to become pregnant, but who send letters and cards thanking him and his staff for trying their best.
FINO firsts
- Performed the first successful gamete fallopian transfer in Louisiana.
- The first operative hysteroscopic uterine septoplasty.
