About Stacey A. Scheib, M.D.


Dr. Stacey A. Scheib joined the Fertility Institute in 2024. She specializes in Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery (MIGS), including fertility surgeries and complex gynecological surgical needs, as well as complex cases of endometriosis and pelvic pain. In addition to fertility surgeries like the single-incision laparoscopy, Dr. Scheib is the only certified MIGS surgeon on the Gulf Coast, providing treatment for complex endometriosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian masses and cysts, teratomas, robotic-assisted laparoscopic abdominal cerclage and more. She is a pelvic pain specialist who can help patients whether they are trying to conceive or not. 

Prior to her time at the Fertility Institute, Dr. Scheib served as Division Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecology and Director of OB/GYN Simulations at LSU. Prior to LSU, she served as the Director of the Multidisciplinary Fibroid Center, the Director of the Chronic Pelvic Pain Center, and the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Scheib completed her medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine and her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. In addition, Dr. Scheib has undergone a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecology at Vanderbilt University. She earned her board certification with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2009.

Her work in minimally invasive gynecological surgery, specifically in single-incision laparoscopy, has earned national attention. Dr. Scheib served on the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology editorial board. She has also published several journal articles, textbook chapters, surgical videos, and co-authored a book called “Hysterectomy: Exploring Your Options.” Some of her additional awards and recognitions include:

  • Named a National APGO Electrosurgical Scholar
  • Named a National APGO Hysteroscopy Scholar
  • Recipient of Alumni Trustee Endorsement Grant and Women’s Health Education Award from Drexel University
  • AAGL Excellence in Laparoscopy Award at Thomas Jefferson Hospital
  • Multiple teaching awards

Dr. Scheib is now scheduling new patient appointments at the Fertility Institute’s New Orleans (Metairie) and Mandeville locations. She is not an OB/GYN and does not provide routine GYN services such as pap smears, pelvic exams, LEEPs, or cervical cone biopsies.

Approach to Treatment

Dr. Scheib has an interest in treating complex endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, and chronic pelvic pain.
