In Vitro Fertilization

IVF near Me

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a type of assisted reproduction technology that can help hopeful-parents-to-be grow their families. The Fertility Institute has been helping families grow across Louisiana since 1976. Our fertility specialists are there to help you on your IVF journey every step of the way.

Who Is a Good Candidate for IVF?

IVF is a successful fertility treatment for many people who experience infertility. We support individuals, couples, and members of the LGBTQ+ community in accessing IVF to build their families.

If you meet any of the following criteria, you may be a good candidate for IVF:

  • You are over 35 and have been trying to conceive for at least six months
  • You are under 35 and have been trying to conceive for at least 12 months
  • You are over 40 and have been trying to conceive for at least 3 months
  • You and your partner are unable to conceive on your own
  • You are a single parent who wants to have a child
  • You have a condition that affects your fertility, like endometriosis or PCOS

To ensure that IVF is a good fit for helping you grow your family, your fertility specialist will have you and your partner undergo fertility testing. Fertility testing helps us determine if there is an underlying cause of infertility, so we can recommend the right treatments.

IVF Process

During the IVF process, our fertility specialists retrieve an egg from your ovaries and fertilize it in a laboratory setting to help increase the chances of a successful pregnancy. Throughout the entire IVF process, you will be closely monitored by our fertility specialists.

An IVF cycle begins with a prescribed series of self-injectable hormone shots that stimulate the ovaries and increase egg production. Once the eggs are mature, they will be collected during an in-office procedure. Sperm from your partner or a donor will also be collected, and the mature egg will be fertilized in our laboratory.

Our embryologists will monitor the embryos for five days to ensure they develop properly and select the most viable embryo for implantation. The day-5 embryo will then be transferred into your uterus for hopeful implantation.
