Welcome to the Fertility Institute’s embryology lab. My name is Beanie and I’m one of the embryologists who has the privilege to be part of your fertility journey.
Your embryos are our priority
Your team of embryologists here at the Fertility Institute has over 50 years of combined experience, which prepares us to provide the best care possible for a successful IVF cycle. I’m excited today to be able to give you a sneak peek into our fascinating world, a world where we get to see life under the microscope.
And although you may never get a chance to speak with us, we want you to know just how important you and your embryos are to us. Thank you for entrusting this intimate part of your life in our hands. Our embryology lab is here for you.
FINO’s hurricane policies
If you’re like most patients, you’re probably wondering what will happen to your embryos if a hurricane is threatening our area. The Fertility Institute has hurricane policies in place with the safety of your embryos as our top priority. If you were to have fresh embryos culturing in the embryology lab during an imminent landfall, your physician and I would discuss the best plan of action for you and your embryos.
Each patient will be assessed individually, as the course of treatment would be specific to the needs of your embryos based on their developmental stage in the lab. Now if you have frozen embryos in our lab, all cryopreservation tanks would be filled to maximum capacity with liquid nitrogen, allowing for two weeks of proper temperature maintenance.
Backup generator
In addition to there being a 24 hour a day alarm system, we also have a backup generator should we unexpectedly lose power in the lab. The uninterrupted power supply will maintain proper functioning of all equipment in the IVF lab. So, rest assured that even during severe weather with possible power outages, we are still prepared to not miss a beat. Your embryos won’t even know anything has happened.
That’s it for today. Keep an eye out for future sneak peeks of what goes on behind the lab door.
