About Peter Y Lu, M.D.
Dr. Peter Y. Lu is board-certified in ObGyn, reproductive endocrinology, and infertility. His areas of focus include fertility treatments and assisted reproductive technologies, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), and fertility preservation.
Dr. Lu began practicing in 1996 after completing his medical degree at Georgetown University, School of Medicine in Washington, and residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans. He has also completed an obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive endocrinology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and Foundation in Rochester, Minnesota.
He chose this field of medicine because infertility treatment utilizes a combination of medication, surgery, and advanced laboratory technologies to achieve successful pregnancies. Additionally, he feels there is significant emotional stress and distress associated with fertility problems, which also need to be addressed in all treatment plans. Dr. Lu enjoys the challenge of evaluating and finding out why a couple is not conceiving and creating a customized treatment plan with clear next steps.
Today, Dr. Lu shares his experience as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine.

Dr. Lu believes his greatest strength is interacting with patients and explaining the complexities of problems and solutions in an understandable way. He wants his patients to be clear about all aspects of their fertility treatment, including the rationale for their “game plan,” with a successful pregnancy as the ultimate reward.
